ANTONIETTA IS ASKING FOR OUR HELP

Greetings of Joy and Peace to all of you!!!
I am Father Cletus. I am writing this letter to request you some help for my people, the people of S.Pudur, to whom I serve as Parish Priest. Recently on 23-11-2008 we had rain, slowly it turned out to be a Cyclone. Both the rain and the wind have left their mark on the people.
The rain water which was running in the rivers overflowed and entered into the paddy fields and from the paddy fields into the houses of the people. In order to save the lives of the children, the parents left their houses and took shelter in the schools and churches.
The rain water ran through the villages for six days and is still running. The houses are built without foundation with mud. Therefore the walls of the houses gave in. I visited all the villages of my parish. The scene is very pathetic. There is a need to reconstruct North and South Street of S.Pudur. These two streets are completely destroyed. No houses are standing, if they stand, the walls are cracked. In all villages which are part of my Parish, almost 100 houses have fallen.
This is the time for Christmas. I appeal to your generosity and kindness to help these poorest of the poor. All they ask me is a small house to live in. Whatever help you give is of great value for these people.
Thank you for the great help you have giving to educate our children. As we are in the time of Christmas, I wish all you HAPPY CHRISTMAS. May they INFANT JESUS bless you and all your family.

Sono padre Cleto. Vi sto scrivendo questa lettera per chiedervi un
po’ di aiuto per la mia gente, la gente di S.Pudur, che io sto servendo come parroco.
Recentemente, il 23 novembre 2008, abbiamo avuto le piogge, lentamente trasformatesi in un ciclone. Sia la pioggia che il vento hanno lasciato il loro segno sulla popolazione.
L’acqua piovana che correva nei fiumi è straripata entrando nelle risaie e dalle risaie all’interno delle case della gente.
Al fine di salvare la vita dei loro bambini, i genitori hanno abbandonato le case ed hanno trovato asilo nelle chiese e nelle scuole.
L’acqua piovana ha continuato a scorrere nei villaggi per sei giorni ed ancora continua. Le case sono costruite senza fondamenta col fango. Così i muri delle case hanno ceduto.
Ho visitato tutti i villaggi della mia parrocchia. La situazione è drammatica. C’è necessità di ricostruire due villaggi interi di S.Pudur, North Street e South Street. Questi due villaggi sono completamente distrutti. Nessuna casa si è salvata, se qualcuna non è crollata completamente, sono crollate le pareti.
In tutti i villaggi che fanno parte della mia parrocchia, almeno100 case sono cadute.
Questo è il tempo per il Natale. Io faccio appello alla vostra generosità e bontà per aiutare questa gente, i più poveri fra i poveri. Tutto ciò che loro mi chiedono è una piccola casa in cui vivere.
Qualunque aiuto darete è di grande valore per questa gente.
E poiché siamo nel tempo del Natale, auguro a tutti voi FELICE NATALE.
