11th Anniversary of the Linate Tragedy

Eleven years have passed since the tragedy and, like each year, we want to organize a day of commemoration and reflection.

 

Here is the program:

 

Sunday, October 7

 

• 03:00 p.m. Memorial Concert at the La Scala Opera House

                             Extraordinary concert of children's choir.

The city of Milan has made available the "Teatro alla Scala" for a Memorial Concert.

The program this year includes a concert of the Choir of the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala conducted by maestro Bruno Casoni. The chorus of voices is a truly rare event and it is with great pleasure that this year we have very much appreciated the proposal that the direction of the Theatre made us.

 

Monday, October 8

• 10:30 a.m.   Holy Mass at the S. Ambrogio Basilica

• o   Bishop, Franco Giulio Brambilla,
• o   Music will be performed by the Schola Polifonica Abbaziale of                  Romagnano Sesia         
  

• 11:30 a.m. Transportation by bus to the “Bosco dei Faggi”.

                         Deposition of flowers and lighting of candles.

                

No events are scheduled for the afternoon.

Wensday, October 10 

 2^st EDITION OF THE MEMORIAL HONORS PRIZE

Also this year the Milan City Council is sponsoring a €6,000.00 honors prize in memory of the victims of the Linate disaster of October 8, 2001.

The prize will be given to a young graduate or researcher who has studied airline transportation safety.

The prize will be awarded on Wensday, October 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Milan City Hall (Palazzo Marino, Piazza della Scala).
