A new "8 ottobre 2001 square", in the of City of Bisceglie (BT), Italy

Last Saturday, August 8th, 2015, in the presence of numerous civil, military and religious authorities, including the Governor of Puglia, Michele Emiliano, the Mayor of Milan, Giuliano Pisapia and the Mayor of Bisceglie, Francesco Spina, the City of Bisceglie, the city that gave birth to the only survivor of the tragedy of Linate, Pasquale Padovano, wanted to honor the memory of our 118 loved ones with the naming of a new area called "October 8, 2001". At the ceremony, representing the 8 October 2001 Committee and the Foundation was present Capt. Arturo Radini, Director of Foundation's Technical Task Force, in his brief speech, he first wanted to thank all those present at the ceremony, in particular, the city of Bisceglie and its citizens with Pasquale Padovano, then focusing on what has been done in recent years by our two associations, confirming how activities put in place are all inspired by the "educational memory" that pushes all the members of the Committee and the Foundation to engage in transfer those basic concepts of safety, in the collective culture, through norms, behaviors, feelings, which remain outside the individuals, however, destined to oblivion. Among these, of particular importance, the ongoing work with the most important international aeronauticl summits, primarily the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the fundamental contribution to the drafting of the advisory circular GEN05 from the Civil Aviation Authority ENAC, "National Assistance Plan for Accident Victims and their Families", which places Italy among the best performing countries in the area. To demonstrate this, the Foundation and the Civil Aviation Authority ENAC, in November, will illustrate to the entire international aeronautical community, in one of the most prestigious venues, the International Air Safety Seminar 2015, organized annually by the Flight Safety Foundation, of which we are proud to be partner.
