18th Anniversary of the Linate Tragedy
Dear friends,
Eighteen years have passed since the tragedy that struck us, and this year we will organize a day for us with moments of reflection and remembrance.
Here is the program:
Tuesday, October 8
8:10 am - Linate
Almost certainly, given that the entire Linate Airport is closed for renovations, we could go to the runway, in the precise spot of the tragic impact, to lay a rose and for a moment of reflection.
For those who would like to participate, there will be a shuttle bus available that will depart from the Piazzale of Pagano at 7:15 am. After the ceremony, the shuttle will take you directly to the Basilica. Otherwise, you can reach the airport with your own means of transportation.
This is a preliminary program: the airport will give us confirmation by September 20. For those of you who are interested, please call Giovanna after this date.
10:30 am - Memorial Mass at Sant’Ambrogio Basilica
Celebrating the Mass: His Excellency Monsignor Franco Buzzi.
As every year, the musical accompaniments will be performed by the La Verdi Children's Choir from Milan.
(at 10:25 am, the standard-bearers with the banners of the Municipalities and Associations attending Holy Mass will enter Sant’Ambrogio. All Standard-Bearers must be in front of the main door of the church by 10:10 am)
11:40 am - Bosco dei Faggi
Transfer by bus to visit "Bosco dei Faggi”.
As every year, flowers will be laid and the candle will be lit.
8:00 pm - Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi
Memorial Concert at "Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi" at Via Conservatorio, 12.
The concert program:
Richard Wagner
Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg WWV 96 Overture
Franz Liszt
Les Preludes
***
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy
Piano Concerto No. 2 in D minor MWV O 11 Op. 40
Aleksandr Porfir'evič Borodin
Polovtsian Dances
The music will be performed by the Milan Conservatory Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Alessandro Bombonati.
We warmly thank Mayor Giuseppe Sala, the entire Milan City Council and the Conservatory Administration for giving us this great opportunity.
For the concert at the Conservatory, each family of the victims will have 15 reserved seats. Admission is free.
In order to organize seat assignments, please let us know exactly how many seats you need by no later than Friday, September 20.Unfortunately, due to the smaller venue compared to Teatro alla Scala, we do not know how many more seats we can guarantee. We will do everything possible to satisfy everyone. For organizational reasons, seat assignments will be made based on the booking date. We want to remind you that you can pick up your tickets on the evening of the concert at the Conservatory Auditorium. Giovanna and other volunteers will be present starting at 6:00 pm for ticket distribution.
As every year, SEA is actively collaborating in the organization of this day and will provide buses for the trip from Sant’Ambrogio Basilica to "Bosco dei Faggi" and return.
As usual, the Mario Pagano Parking Lot is free.
To reach Sant'Ambrogio Basilica more easily, we suggest you take advantage of the Green Line subway. The Sant'Ambrogio station is right in front of the Basilica.
Please confirm your participation by Friday, September 21 by calling these phone numbers: 02/88456685 (Committee); 339/3082849 (Giovanna)
That’s all for now: we await your confirmations.
Fondly,
