15th Anniversary of the Linate Tragedy

Dear friends,

Fifteen years have passed since the tragedy that struck us and once again we are organizing a day of reflection and commemoration.

 

We invite you to read the program and confirm the participation by Friday, September 23.

Friday, October 7

 

• 6:30 p.m. Commemorative concert at the La Scala Opera House

 

As usual, the city of Milan is sponsoring a performance at the La Scala Opera House.

 

This year, the performance will be:

Messa da Requiem

by Giuseppe Verdi

Conductor, Maestro Riccardo Chailly

 

We sincerely thank Mayor Giuseppe Sala and the entire City Council of Milan and the La Scala opera house, which offers us this great opportunity every year.

 

Saturday, October 8

 

• 09:30 a.m. Holy Mass at the S. Ambrogio Basilica. His Eminency Cardinal Angelo Scola, Archbishop of Milan, will celebrate Mass. Music will be performed by the La Verdi Children's Choir of Milan                      

 

(Standard-bearers of the various Municipalities and Associations who would like to attend Holy Mass will enter S. Ambrogio at 09:25 a.m. All Standard-bearers must gather near the main entrance of the church by 09:10 a.m.)

 

• 10:40 a.m. Transfer by bus for a visit to the "Bosco dei Faggi". Flowers will be placed and a candle will be lit.

 

This year an additional musical event is planned:

 

• 9.00 p.m.       Concert by the Orzinuovi Band at Teatro Grande in Brescia.

 

Members of the Orzinuovi band want to dedicate a memorial evening to our loved ones. I hope many of you will attend the event. Admission is free, but please confirm your attendance so we can reserve the best seats for you. Our heartfelt thanks go to our Ivana Caffi, who organized the event and was one of the founders of the band.                            

                

For the evening at the La Scala Opera house, each family of the victims will have 15 seats at their disposal. Admission is free.

To organize seat assignments, please let us know how many seats you need by Friday, September 23. If the number is not sufficient, please let us know how many extra seats you need. We will do our best to satisfy all requests. For organizational reasons, seat assignment will be made based on the reservation date. You can pick up your tickets at the new headquarters of Comitato 8 Ottobre at Via San Tomaso, 3, (MM 1 Cairoli subway stop).

 

Like every year, SEA is helping us organize the commemoration and providing the buses for the trip from S. Ambrogio Basilica to "Bosco dei Faggi" and back.

 

As usual, parking at the Mario Pagano parking lot is free.

We suggest you take the Green Line of the Milan subway to reach Sant'Ambrogio Basilica more easily. The Sant'Ambrogio station is right in front of the Basilica.
